No. Having routine maintenance performed at an independent shop does not void a factory warranty, provided the work is done to the manufacturer specification with the correct parts and fluids and it is documented. Keep your records. Warranty repairs and recalls themselves still have to be performed by a franchised dealer.

Typically every 30,000 to 70,000 miles, depending on driving conditions and how the car is driven. Connecticut winters (road salt and freeze-thaw potholes) can accelerate wear, so we check the whole brake system at every visit, not just the pads.

It depends on the code. A steady check-engine light usually means it's safe to drive to us for a diagnostic scan soon, while a flashing check-engine light typically signals a more serious misfire and you should get it looked at right away. When in doubt, call us and describe what you're seeing, and we'll tell you whether it can wait for an appointment or needs to come in now.

Usually low refrigerant, a failing compressor, or a blockage in the system. We diagnose the actual cause with a proper inspection rather than just topping off refrigerant and hoping it holds.

It varies by make, model, and driving style. Most modern European engines run on a manufacturer-specified interval tracked by an onboard service reminder, and we use the oil weight and spec your manufacturer calls for, not a generic one-size-fits-all product.

It matters. Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche each publish their own oil approvals, and an oil can be an excellent full synthetic in the correct viscosity and still not carry the approval your engine calls for. On a turbocharged direct-injection engine in particular, this is one of the few places where the label on the bottle changes the outcome.

On a direct-injection engine, fuel is sprayed straight into the cylinder rather than past the intake valves, so nothing washes the valves clean. Carbon accumulates on them over tens of thousands of miles and typically shows up first as a rough cold idle, a misfire code, or a car that feels flat off the line. It is a known characteristic of these engines rather than a defect.

It is an air suspension symptom, but that covers four different repairs: the air springs, the compressor, the valve block, or a ride-height sensor. A vehicle that settles overnight and pumps back up on start usually has a leak; one that will not raise at all more often has a compressor, valve block, or sensor fault. They feel identical from the driver seat and they are not the same job, so it gets diagnosed before anything is quoted.

Three things, consistently. Road salt corrodes brake hardware and caliper slide pins, which is why we inspect the hardware rather than only the pad thickness. Freeze-thaw potholes on the secondary routes damage wheels, tires, and suspension bushings, and low-profile or run-flat tires have very little margin when they meet an edge. And cold kills marginal batteries, which on a modern European car produces warning lights across systems that have nothing wrong with them.

Yes. We scan the car, confirm the fault against the actual symptom, and explain what we found before any repair is authorized. A fault code names a circuit, not a broken part, and the difference between those two is most of what makes European repair bills unpredictable elsewhere.

Yes. Air suspension diagnostics and repair on Porsche models (Cayenne, Panamera, and others equipped with it) is one of our specialties. It's a system a lot of general shops won't touch.
