Seven marques, and they are not seven unrelated problems. Audi and Volkswagen share the EA888 engine outright, so carbon on the intake valves and a model-year-sensitive chain tensioner behave the same way in a Tiguan as in an A4. Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, and the Porsche SUVs all use air suspension with the same four failure points, so a Range Rover that sags overnight and a Cayenne that will not raise get the same diagnostic order. Knowing where the platforms overlap is what makes a specialist faster than a generalist.

Where they differ, they differ sharply, and that is the other half of the job. BMW tracks its own maintenance through Condition Based Service and expects each item to be reset when the work is done. Mercedes decides between Service A and Service B on its own. Volvo hides an angle gear behind the transaxle that most owners have never heard of. Porsche chooses brake compounds that wear fast on purpose. None of that is written on the dashboard.
